Parents On P Plates
By Paul McCann

We were happy enough, me and the wife, then along came the miracle of life .

Our first child was born right before our eyes .

Honoured , so honoured . Blessed, so blessed .

Surprised beyond belief what love had given us .

Each day I look at him . It's just too much .

Yes, he's really there . Yes, it's true .

Your little son is looking back at you . Daddy's my new name now , and I've a son .

Mummy's now my wife . New things have begun for both of us .

Things we never did before ,we're learning to do .

He's opened the door . Bringing up his wind after feeding time .

Hanging dozens of nappies on the line . It's a joy to be in such constant need .

I see the bond of a two hourly feed grow more day by day .

Proud parents are we to have been blessed by God with our baby .

Regular hugs bring a gleam to his eye . He's cute , so cute .

It's beaut to hear him cry . I know everybody wants a nurse ,but he's so special to us .

He's our first . Since he's come home he's taken over the show .

We love him so much , it's hard to let go . As far as love goes, it's thumbs up ,

we've passed . As parents on P plates we're learning fast.

Birthday Celebrations
By Paul McCann

When our birthdays come around,
we can hear the happy sound,
of laughter and singing too ,
Just say where and tell us who,
celebrations can be found .
When our birthdays come around .
Life is the dance and we here,
Will clap together and cheer.
And jump high up off the ground ,
When our birthdays come around .
Balloons are blown up too,
It’s a special day for you,
when the streamers are unwound ,
and wet shamrocks end up drowned,
when our birthdays come around

Teddy And Me And The Wife Make Three

By Paul Mc Cann

My Teddy and me we share the same bed.
We are very attached , me and my Ted .
Today we live in a family home ,
we have internet and a telephone .
We have some secrets we would like to share .
Long ago it was me and Teddy bear,
who discovered the world was in two parts .
One for the sad ,
and one for happy hearts .
When I was a baby I cried all day ,
but Teddy wiped all of my tears away .
We crawled around the cot,
across the floor ,
life was a playground each day to explore .
Teddy and me the unstoppable pair ,
together we both went everywhere .
There was too little time between the naps ,
there's too little moments captured in snaps .
The years have passed Teddy and I have grew ,
and the day came,
Teddy and I both knew ,
somebody else had come into our life ,
I had to break it gently to my wife .
"Darling "
I said on our honeymoon night ,
" I hope we don't end up having a fight ,
but there's someone else I really adore .
you have never been introduced before ,
his name is Teddy and he's in the bed ."
Out from the sheets I produced Teddies head .
Oh how we danced on our honeymoon night ,
Teddy and me when my wife said ,
" All right "
Now Ted and I we still share the same bed ,
with a household of kids and tears to shed .
There are two parts in this world that we share ,
But hugs bring us close ,
says my Teddy bear

A Christmas Interrogation

By Paul McCann

Last year when you called Santa I noted down a number of things
Now I want your truthful answers. OK ?
The note I wrote you I found in Daddy's pocket .
I never found any marks of a reindeer or a sleigh .
So Ho-Ho-Ho Father Christmas ,
I know who you are?
I saw the cushions you used to make you look fatty .
That Santa suit doesn't fool me .
You have the same after shave .
The same missing tooth.
The same eyes as Daddy.
Don't try to kid me Santa because Mr. Clause I know for a fact,
you can't get up and down the chimney.
Another thing is that beer I leave you each year
is Daddy's favourite too
So that says it all for me .
The thing is the ring you wear is just like Dads,
and those glasses are also the same.
So tell me if you're game.
Well Son , Santa's the name.
Making kids happy is my game
and Christmas without me just wouldn't be the same.
Don't be blinded and bluffed by what you think you know .
People say Santa how do you know who's been good and bad .
I tell them look into your hearts and believe me .
If you don't believe in Santa then go and ask your Dad
