With great sadness the Society marks the peaceful passing of Ann Smallpage at Bethlehem Hospital on 2 Feb 2008.

Ann was a very strong woman, a Borough woman, with a fantastic memory which the Society often relied upon for first hand knowledge of Port people and events.

She continued to live in her home in Garden City which her parents had moved into shortly after it was built in 1927 until, in her final weeks, ill-health forced her to remain in hospital.

Influenced by her mother, Annie, she was a keen gardener and from her father, Doug, she became an avid photographer. Serving as the unofficial photographer at Society functions, Ann would appear at the next meeting with a duplicate set of prints, one for the Collection and one for the subject.

She will be dearly missed and we offer our sincere condolences to the family.
