
Recruitment
The Pilbara Regiment is part of the Australian Army Reserve and is made up of men and women who devote some of their spare time to helping maintain Ausralia's security.
The Army Reserve is an essential part of the Australian Defence Force, greatly increasing the size and effectiveness of the armed forces should the need to use them ever arise.
Members of the Pilbara Regiment
complete 100 days training each year, made up of a 14 day continuous training period and
86 days of weekend or evening training.
A minimum of 50 days training is required to be considered effective.
Applicants to join the Pilbara Regiment must:
Be an Australian citizen (or have the required residency period and have made an application to become a citizen).
Be at least 17 years of age.
Be of good character.
Be medically and physically fit.
Be able to pass aptitude testing.
Reservists are well paid, with pay increasing on promotion to higher rank and as new skills are aquired. Reserve pay is TAX FREE.

Soldiers of the Pilbara Regiment undergo the following training:
Desert Survival and Tracking
Communications
Medical
Water Operations
Driver training
Selected personnel can undertake training for promotion to higher rank and suitably qualified soldiers can apply for training as commissioned officers.
The Pilbara Regiment conducts training on various days of the week at locations throughout the Pilbara.
