Gail Marie Hart

While working in the business community for 20 years, GailMarie Hart was able to hive off some time to explore her creativity through studies in photography; abstract and multi-media painting; batik dyeing and colour design.

In 2002 she left the corporate world to take up a place at Box Hill Institute in the Diploma in Arts and Design. Attending "Studio Stitch" classes was her first major step in an exciting career change. Greatly influenced by the Art Deco style, Gail's interests in textiles include resist dyeing, weaving, felt and screen printing. She often uses historic fabric pieces to make new, often whimsical, representations. Her inspiration for colour often comes from Meso-America.

In 2003 Gail added a second dimension to her art practice by commencing a Graduate Diploma in Arts Therapy. She plans to combine textiles, collage and arts communication to work with women and children in crisis.
