Sue Freckleton
All my life I've had a passion for the creative side of life. I cant remember a
time when I haven't been industriously employed in some kind of craft,
everything from garment construction, ceramics, reproduction doll making,
calligraphy, paper crafts and embroidery. I've learnt, exhibited nationally and
internationally, taught and run two small craft businesses. This year at Box
Hill has allowed me to mix with like minded people, to look more closely at the
art side of textiles and the opportunity to visit Melbourne on our public
transport system. Coming from a small country town- wide open spaces and
uncluttered, I've been drawn to the graffiti, street art and overlapping of one
art form over another. In my pieces for this exhibition, I've tried to express
the multi layers of the Melbourne I see by using dyes, layers of sheer fabric,
pattern and stitch. I look forward to a future of looking more closely at my
environments.
