It's difficult for many of us to comprehend that Christmas is here once again.

The pace of life is so hectic these days that it feels like we have barely had time to get used to 2005, before 2006 is staring us in the face.

Perhaps in this day and age, one of the real benefits of the festive season is to take a breath and consider what we have done and what we want to do in the next 12 months.

Perhaps because life is just rush, rush, rush, we need to keep our Christmas festivities simple and uncomplicated.

It is a chance to reflect on the good things that we have in our lives. Sometimes it is hard to appreciate what we have achieved and what we have because we are so quickly onto the next issue.

There is an old saying that when all around are in a hurry and a frenzy, that's the time to stand still.

For those of us who are able, I urge you to take the time to stand still, enjoy what we have and what we can achieve.
