Illogan Gribbles: The Story of One Cornish Mining Family

Hello, and welcome to the website of Peter Gribble. Although a resident of Melbourne, Australia, I have a direct line of ancestry back to the little Cornish mining village of Illogan from where my earliest known ancestors originated.

This website (updated infrequently) is an attempt to communicate for the benefit of my family, and especially others interested in the Illogan family name Gribble, the essence of my research findings. I hope each and everyone of you who take the time to browse through these pages find the journey interesting and worthwhile.

To date, this is as far back in time and place that my investigations have taken me. Please feel more than welcome to email peterfg at vicnet.net.au any additional information and/or corrections you feel will enhance the site. I remain hopeful a visitor to this site will supply the key to unlock the door titled 'Gribble history pre Illogan'. Perhaps that visitor is you!

Re: The Melbourne "Gribble Reunion" and "150 year Anniversary Commemoration"

Celebrating the arrival in Australia in December 1854 from Illogan of the miner Simon Gribble. In brief - a great day and night enjoyed by young and old. The many photographs taken reveal a mix of excitement, attention, active participation and obvious enjoyment. Feedback suggests the day exceeded expectations - especially from the younger participants! Thanks again to all who took part. Have a look under Events > Northcote 2004 for more information and pictures of the day.

Enjoy your visit,

Peter Gribble
