Jason Mackie (P02) It is with deep regret that we report that Jason was killed instantly in action in Afghanistan on 14 May 2009 aged 21. He was supporting IX Company of the Welsh Guards when his vehicle struck an explosive device in the Basharan area of central Helmand. At the time of his death Jason was serving as a Viking All Terrain Vehicle Operator in 3rd Armoured Support Troop of the Armoured Support Group, Royal Marines.
