Dear
Parents and Guardians
We end our Trinity term on a very high note! Our Bi-annual Festival, that took place last week, was a resounding success and I thank those of you who made the effort to experience it. I thank my dedicated and committed staff for their input and make special mention of Mr John Barrie - the Festival Coordinator and Miss Bryony Rheam - his assistant, for their attention to detail that ensured it was such a successful event.
Staff
We say farewell to Mr Brian and Mrs AJ Foakes. They have, in the time they have been here, contributed a great deal to the life of Peterhouse. Brian's contribution to Music and to IT - he set up our two computer rooms, introduced the ICDL, email addresses for pupils and has made us proud of our facility, to teaching and to Paget House - as Housemaster. AJ's contribution in class, as Head of Junior Science, on the cricket field as U14A's coach and Person in Charge of Hockey, together with her input in the House has been outstanding. They will be sorely missed.
Mr Ashley Denman - Director of Sport - also leaves at the end of this term. Taking over from Mr Reg Querl was never going to be easy - I congratulate him on all he has achieved in his five terms here. We wish him and Judith and their daughters happiness in England.
Our Junior Master - Terence Sibanda leaves to further his education overseas.
Sadley most staff leave because of the political and economic situation that faces Zimbabwe. This has been pointed out to me by the many ex staff who have visited in the past month - Paul Davies, Suzanne Barrington, Rev Martin Housman, Phillipa Sex and Andy and Rowena Hall! - it is difficult to keep them away from Peterhouse!
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Trevor Mushiko as Housemaster in Founders - he has been Acting Housemaster since January. Mr Adam Burgess has been appointed Acting Housemaster in Paget while Mr Prince Chavunduka has been appointed Assistant Housemaster in Malvern.
ACADEMIC MATTERS
Mid-year examinations. Your son will have a Report reflecting his term assessment and results from the examinations he wrote. Boys in A Block and VI Form wrote mock examinations and the symbols and marks attained give an indication of how they will fare in next term's public examinations.
Holiday Revision. This is an important holiday for all pupils writing public examinations in November. They have been set work to do and they will have their own revision programmes to follow. The amount of time and effort put into this preparation will affect their grades significantly. Your support in removing distractions and encouraging effective work will obviously help them. We have recently heard that South African universities will be restricted to accepting only 10% of its students from SADC countries in future. This will make entrance more difficult - your son needs to obtain good grades!
D Block Parent/Teacher Meeting. This will take place at 10.15 am on Friday 26th of September. Please try to attend the meeting; it occurs at the beginning of our First Fixture Free Weekend.
Awards. Congratulations to the following boys who have been awarded Half Colours for Academics. MT Borerwe, FW Douse, ME Jakazi, TT Kaviya, JK Mavetera, MA Osman and V Shah. These are A Block boys who look set to distinguish themselves in the examinations next term.
Full Colours for Academics has been awarded to Maxwell Rugonye who is predicted 3 'A' grades at A Level this year. Congratulations!
HONOURS AWARDS
Three boys have been awarded Honours Ties this term - our highest award - for their outstanding contribution to Peterhouse - I congratulate Aaron Denenga, Tjaart Walraven and Daniel Calderwood.
CULTURAL MATTERS

By beating Falcon, at 1st XV level, Peterhouse won the competition. (It involves the U16, 2nd XV and 1st XV of the top eight rugby schools in Zimbabwe!)
