PETERHOUSE
BOYS' SCHOOL
Dear
Parents and Guardians
We come to the end of a very disrupted and difficult term. A term in which we have ensured that we have not been overtaken by political or economic forces. I thank all staff and boys for the way they have ensured that this remains a place of learning, a place of growth and a place of personal development.
We ended term on a high note - the Songs from the Shows concert was superb! I was sad that more parents could not attend, it was a real tonic! My thanks to the staff, boys, girls, parents, relations and especially Mrs Kate Sinclair for such a special concert!
During the past weeks, people have commented on Peterhouse in many ways - "a place of normalcy set aside from the lawlessness that surrounds it": "a place of refuge", "a place of peace, cooperation and sense'. On Saturday during the interval of 'Songs from the Shows' an old friend came to me and said "we really look forward to coming back to Peterhouse, it is like another world, it is so uplifting". I am grateful that in this my first term, I have the cooperation of all members of staff to ensure that Peterhouse stands out as a place that is uplifting - long may it continue!
Sadly we say farewell to Mr John Gardner and his wife Daisy who leave at the end of this term. John has taught English to 'A' level during this past year. We wish them success and happiness in the future.
Roy and Jenny Currie leave at the end of this term. Their impact on Peterhouse during the past nine years has been considerable. Roy has taught Maths, coached rugby, supervised golf and run Gosho Park most successfully. We are most indebted for the superb work he and Jenny have done in Grinham. Jenny, as resident physiotherapist will be sadly missed next term - the rugby, soccer and hockey term! We thank them for their contribution to the growth and development of Peterhouse and wish them every success in the future.
If you have received this letter you should have received your sons report! I have read every report written but only commented where I felt it was necessary to do so. Next term I will comment fully on examination classes, A, Vth and VIth; in the third term I will comment on D, C and B Blocks. I have been struck by the high standard of the reporting and am especially impressed with the comments of Tutors and Housemasters.
Refresher Points Term begins on Monday 6th May at 1730 ends on Tuesday 6th August at 1030. Note that the first and last weekends of term are CLOSED WEEKENDS and that although you may visit for lunch on either the Saturday or Sunday, you may not take your son out of the school grounds. (Note that the Springvale Campus and Gosho Park are considered to be part of the school grounds.)

A, VA, V and VI Forms The boys have been set work for the holidays. This has been a short and rather disrupted term - it is essential that those preparing for external examinations prepare wisely during the five week holiday period.
I feel that my first term has been a 'Baptism by Fire' and I must thank the staff for their support. In particular I would like to thank Mr French and Mr Shaw who have given me so much help and support.
I hope that your sons have a restful break and that those travelling on holiday return safely.
Jenny and I hope you have a Happy and Holy Easter period.
Yours sincerely
