The Mount Rouse and District Historical Society was formed in 1973 by a group of  local residents with a common interest in the preservation of Historical material. The Society collects, catalogues, files and maintains Historical Records, Maps and Photographs and makes them available for public access in the Society’s rooms at the old Penshurst courthouse.

The courthouse is open to the public on the first Saturday of every month from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. or by appointment.

The Society provides a research service for local and family history. Research on behalf of an enquirer is charged at $10 per hour.
