About PDCV

PDCV  is  the  communication link between people with a physical  disability and decision makers
in Government the Community and the Business sector..
 
THE VOICE OF PEOPLE WITH A PHYSICAL DISABILITY

Our Aim

To promote equality of opportunity for people with a physical disability by providing a representative voice.

Our Vision

To ensure that the needs of all people with a physical disability are enshrined in Victorian Government legislation, policies, services and programs, in all of the private sector and Victorian community enabling equal participation.

Our Activities

  • We provide a forum to discuss issues. Distribute information to members and the public.

  • Provide a formal means for the exchange of ideas between people with a physical disability, government and non government sector.

  • Seek ideas and opinions on issues of importance, affecting the lives and the lifestyle of people with a physical disability.

  • Ensure a strong voice and lobby at all levels of government in Victoria.We believe that:

The PDCV believes that to participate fully in the Victorian and Australian community, people with a physical disability have a right to:

* Appropriate Personal Care
* Receive Aids and Equipment
* An Accessible Transport System
* Mainstream Education
* Accessible Housing and Accommodation
* Employment at Award Conditions
* Accessible Leisure Activities
* Access to Business, Shopping & Recreational Centres & all services as other members of the community

HOW PDCV IS STRUCTURED

The Physical Disability Council of Victoria (PDCV) has a committee of management elected from the membership. The committee meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month. The meeting venue rotates from region to region providing an opportunity for people to attend.

Membership of PDCV is open to:

  • people with a physical disability over the age of 18 years, parents, guardians or people with a physical disability under the age of 18 years as ordinary members.

  • organisations showing commitment to consumer rights and the empowerment of people with physical disability as affiliate members.
