Membership
The Puffing Billy Toy Library is a community toy library and receives no government funding. Running costs are met by membership fees, donations and fundraising, additionally members asked to provide 1.5 hours per term for operating the toy library during opening times. Members who are unable to commit to duty have the option to pay a non-duty levy which negates the requirement for duty.
Toys can be borrowed for two-week periods, with 4 toys per child (of which 1 can be a large toy) to a maximum of 12 toys per family. Fees are charged for overdue toys, lost pieces and lost toys.
We aim to keep fees attainable for all, currently fees are
$35 for one child
$45 for two children
$55 for three or more children
Additional $40 for non duty membership
Fees are due at the beginning of the financial year and new members joining throughout the year pay at a pro rata rate.
Up to $20 can be deducted from the next year's fees for your extra assistance, eg extra duty, assisting with fundraising, etc. Temporary memberships are available enabling a limited number of borrowings throughout the year, without the requirement of duty. This membership is in the form of a book of six vouchers enabling six fortnightly borrowing of 4 toys (one large toy only) throughout the financial year. Only one voucher book can be purchased each financial year, however, if further borrowing is required standard membership is available at a pro-rata rate. Fees will be charged for overdue toys, lost pieces and lost toys.
A temporary membership is $20 (6 borrowings per year) Duty Roster
