VicUrban avoid questions.....

1.

Why did VicUrban order such extensive destruction of trees across the whole park when the development of some areas will not take place for several years and while it is still a public park?

2.

What type of paperwork and bureaucratic arrangements exist between COGS and VicUrban for its contracting out of this work, how is payment organised and when will payment for this clearing of trees occur? -----

Response to questions for Friends of Parkside Gardens -by VicUrban

I respond to a request for information from one of your members earlier today.

The tree removal is part of the site preparation works which are in accordance with the approved plans. Although the development will be staged, there are a number of elements which need to occur in order to prepare the site as a whole.

The cost of the tree removal will be counted for as a development cost by VicUrban.

I trust this answers your questions.

COMMENT: What are they hiding?

What has VicUrban got to hide when they do not give straight answers to direct questions?

All the public has seen is a CONCEPT PLAN, and this at the launch on April 1 2005, which only indicates 148 blocks, one major through road and the entire site surrounded by a lot of shrubbery.

Where is the DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR the public parkland at Parkside Gardens?

The 50 percent public open space must include the two small wetlands proposed – one at the north west and one at the north which is totally inaccessible to the public, and the miserable Wanganui Park development on the east side of the existing moat.

No more kayaking folks! Fishermen – find somewhere else!
