VICURBAN CORRECTION
OUR ORGANISATION HAS NOT PLEADED WITH VICURBAN REGARDING COUNCIL PENALTIES

In the Shepparton News 16th December, in an article titled 'Lobby group continues push for referendum' it was stated that our organisation pleaded with Vicurban not to financially penalise The Greater Shepparton Council for project delays should a referendum be granted.

In the interests of information accuracy, we have released a copy of the letter sent to Vicurban (printed below) It is clear that our organisation is requesting information, not pleading.

Dear C.E.O.

Enclosed is a part copy of the agenda for the 2nd November meeting of the Greater Shepparton Council.. In dealing with the GSBGA request for a community referendum on the future of Parkside Gardens reference was made to the Deed of Agreement between your organization and our Council.

It was inferred, by Council, that if Council decided to conduct such a referendum then VicUrban would apply a financial penalty upon the Council.

We find it to be reprehensible that such a penalty could be imposed if Council decided that the public should be allowed to vote as to whether they want Parkside Gardens to be destroyed.

Could you please clarify if your organization would impose such a penalty on our ratepayers?

Yours sincerely,

Bill Brown
Chairman GSBGA
