| The following resolution was passed unanimously at the 20th of October meeting of the Greater Shepparton Botanic Gardens Association.
The GSBGA / Friends of Parkside Gardens, condemns the following intimidatory and threatening actions by the Greater Shepparton City Council:
- The sending of a solicitor's letter to a member of the Greater Shepparton Citizens Action Group ( and who is also a member of the GSBGA ) following the publication of his legitimate letter in the 'Readers Write' section of the Shepparton News a few weeks ago, which outlined his concerns about the recently released 25-lot Council-owned Parkview Estate in north Shepparton.
- Phone calls made by one councillor in particular to members of our organisation. We refer Council to the documented Code of Conduct for Councillors on this matter.
We state that our organisation is determined to continue to fight for the preservation of the International Village site (Parkside Gardens) as a community park and gardens with the theme of promoting goodwill and cultural harmony, in keeping with the heritage of the site as recognised recently by Heritage Victoria.
We resolve to continue with our concern for community health and well-being in relation to the site. Therefore, should Council proceed with the 150 lot estate on the Parkside Gardens site, we will take all opportunities to inform the community of what we believe are the problems associated with that development.
