Historical context

People with disabilities have faced a tough struggle for recognition of their rights to become parents. They were typically segregated in institutions and/or sterilised to prevent them having children. (Linda Fuller The Advantage Project 1996 p 5). Society has always struggled with what to do with people with a disability in general.
