Community support
Finding someone who cares and understands what it is like to be a parent who has a disability can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Feeling lonely and isolated is hard. Parents with disabilities may feel they need some support from groups and services within their local area, but not know who can help. Peer support from others who share similar experiences is very important for many parents. Parents may also feel they need to develop new skills in a local friendly learning environment to enhance confidence and well being.
