Joc had a second biopsy today which showed that there is still significant
rejection. Rather than dope her again with steroids they are going to fire
the last shot in the locker and hit her with OKT3 for a fortnight, starting
at 10.30 tonight.
The side effects can be severe such as siezures and breathing problems, and so the registrar on duty has gone home to grab a bite to eat so that he can come back and watch her all night. Dear Joc is resigned, trusting and confident, as usual. I wish I could be the same.
J will be sedated and feeling generally lousy tomorrow and possibly for the next two weeks, although the worst side effects will hopefully diminish after a day or two. There will be nothing much to report until it's over.
In the meantime wounds etc. will continue to heal and liver function will improve, so there is still a chance she will be home for her birthday on the 20th.
Love, JH.
