The stone on the corner of North and Poath roads Hughesdale reads as follows: This was the site of Oakleigh Technical school 1946-1991 Officially opened on 23rd. April 1947 by Mr. J.A. Seitz Director of Education. This memorial stone was erected by the OAKLEIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL SOCIETY October 2000 Society member Bob Passmore oversaw the complete operation from start to finish which involved help from various bodies Holmesglen Tafe stonemasonry department, local council, landowners, tenants. After countless letters, telephone calls, Bob Passmore's project eventually was completed with the stone in place in October 2000. |
