Trip Report

We were unable to do the Light House walk as Roaring Meg and Waterloo Bay campsites were booked out, and there were no cancellations on the Saturday morning. On Sunday night, at Refuge Bay, the Ranger told us of very heavy bookings for this weekend, but only about one third of the walkers showed up.

Our walk was: Tidal River via Oberon Bay to Half Way Hut for the Saturday night; from the hut to Refuge Cove for the Sunday night; then Refuge to Telegraph Saddle via Sealers.

The weather was variable: wet weather gear on and off several times. No serious dampness and for most part it was dry and pleasant conditions. John S. and Peter McG. had not walked at the Prom before and now were quite impressed with the beauty of the East Coast part. I personally have never reached the Light House, so there is still a reason to go again (but who needs an excuse to go there anyway?).

The following photos will give you a clue of what some walkers did at Wilsons Prom while the hardy souls were still puffing their way back to Telegraph Saddle after three days out in fairly appalling conditions.

Above we have Gedi on the Mt Bishop track, and then Gedi in the middle of Cotters Lake without his gumboots.
