Blackett & Howden 2/9
2 Manuals, 9 ranks - 7 Tuned percussion - 8 traps - Curved console
(Christie) as installed at Coburg Town Hall, Melbourne, Australia
The organ
specification is :-
MAIN CHAMBER, (lower) - Viole 'D' Orchestra, Celeste,
Diapason, Stopped Flute, Tibia Clausa, (Wurlitzer), Chrysoglott, and the Relays
and Switches, (by Christie).
SOLO CHAMBER, (upper) - Tibia, (metal), Tuba, Clarinet, Vox Humana, Xylophone
1, (by Christie), Xylophone 2, (by B&H), Glockenspiel, (Compton), Cathedral
Chimes, (Christie), and the usual Bass and Snare drums, Cymbals, Traps and
Effects.
A large Aeolien Organ Harp, (61 notes), is unenclosed, and mounted high up on
the rear stage brick wall, it is hoped to add a Piano at a later stage.
The compressed air is provided by a 'Discus' blower driven by a 3 phase 10 HP
motor and provides about 21 inches of static wind, more than enough for an
instrument of this size. Pressures used in the organ are 6 inches for all the
Flues, 8 inches for the metal Tibia and Tuba, and 9 inches for the Tibia
Clausa.
