The Nunawading Aussi Masters offers graded training to cater for people at different standards and for those who may be new to squad training. Formal training takes place only during the school term. However, dedicated lap lane space is provided at the pool all the year and usually a number of Orcas come to the pool for training during the school holidays to maintain fitness. Two examples of the training sessions are provided to give an idea of the type, style and intensity of swimming. These are for the "less advanced" swimmer and for the more "advanced". Sessions are varied and for the advanced sessions the Coach also designs the sessions based on the swimming season and the main competitive swim meets in the calendar. An important aspect of swimming is stretching which maintains and improves flexibility which in turn helps with skills improvement, and like warm-ups and cool downs assists with preventing muscular injury. Instruction in stretching is given regularly through out the year and swimmers are encouraged to stretch before and after training. Information and examples about stretching are provided by courtesy of Nic McCallum.
The group trains at Aqualink Nunawading three times a week on: Monday: 8:30 to 9:45 pm. Fees The fee structure is based on the school term and the number of sessions per week that the swimmer wishes to attend.
Term 1: February 2 - April 3
