OK Bushwalkers is group of like minded single people who get together every two weeks or so and go bush or hop on a bicycle for a ride. It is that simple. It is not a club and has no official structure or legal status for that matter. This site works as an online information and organisational touch point for the group and has been running in this way since early 2001.

2005 will be the fifth year I'll be running this web site and in that time I've walked all over Victoria with a great and ever-changing group of people. Very early in the piece I bought a new pair of lightweight Salomon walking boots and in the past four years of walks I estimate that they have seen over 1,200 kms of trails ranging in surface through smooth, rocky, grassy to muddy and they are still going strong.

But it is not about distance walked but more about the company we have all kept in that time and the places we've seen together. Over 300 people have registered for the OK Bushwalkers newsletter in the last four years. 120 have actually registered for walks and just over 90 have actually turned up at one time or another! Some people have joined the group for many walks over the years and others have come and gone. We have all been enriched by the experiences and I look forward to many more this year.

Well, of course, if you've been here before, welcome to the updated and re-focused OK Bushwalkers web site for 2005. The first thing you will notice is that the site is a lot simpler. And we've gone back to simple being called OK Bushwalkers, since that is what everyone keeps calling us! The "path of the Commons" rules again.

Activity types listed last year that the group showed little interest in have been dropped, but I still think we need something to give the group a bit of zing. I always get positive feedback from the extended weekends away from Melbourne, so, for my idea of adding the new improved Zing ingredient, see the new Escape section.
