Off Lead

Would you like the gravel path which runs between the Dandenong Creek and Campbell's Croft/Abbey Walk reserve and possibly the open spaces of Abbey Walk, Vermont, Victoria to be an OFF Lead area for your dog.

Dandenong Creek                                                                                             Pathway from footbridge

The path is owned and maintained by Melbourne Water, however, it comes under the auspices of Whitehorse City Council By-laws.  The section suggested is between Boronia Road and the footbridge approximately 1km in length.  The footbridge spans the Dandenong Creek and was a joint project between Whitehorse & Knox Councils and Melbourne Water.

Whitehorse and Knox City Councils boundary is the Dandenong Creek, the boundary between Whitehorse and Maroondah is approximately 100 mts before the footbridge.  The wooden board walk is actually in Maroondah.

The asphalt shared bicycle/pedestrian path is now a concrete path and is in Knox, it is believed to be a leash free area.  It is now a pleasant walk for owners and their dogs, a few cyclists use the path and may hurtling abuse as they pass, however with the new bicycle path along Eastlink riders have become few.

The main users of the gravel path are local residents, usually in company with their four legged friends.  No problems are foreseen by the use of the path and the banks of the creek by dogs off lead.

If you would like to post your support for an off lead area please email, write or telephone Whitehorse City Council, Victoria, Australia.
