Meetings and other activities
The Outer East Group meet each month in Ringwood. Each meeting usually includes a guest speaker; reports from care teams; and news of upcoming training opportunities and social activities.
Meetings provide a great opportunity to share experiences and get to know one another. At meetings members may also borrow material from a small but growing library of books, brochures and videos on HIV, AIDS and related topics. A monthly newsletter is also published.
At Outer East we believe that as a group we can be more effective if we know each other well and friendship is developed within the group so various social events are organised to help foster a fellowship within the group.
There are substantial personal benefits in being part of Outer East: the feeling of directly helping someone, learning new skills, sharing ideas, making things happen, being part of a team and meeting people with a similar outlook
Volunteers set their own level of involvement which can range from a few hours a month to multiple responsibilities requiring an extensive commitment.
