Our Syllabus - Competition Rules

Competitions are held each month, for which members may submit a maximum of three slides and up to six print images with no more than three images in
any of the print divisions. 

 2006  ‘Printers & Scanners’ and more talks/demonstrations workshops on digital imagining more often. 
Speakers to range from artists; both paint and photographic,  to digital equipment and software suppliers, and members of other Camera clubs.

April Set Subject "Food Glorious Food" "An image whose main feature is food, its preparation or consumption"
Midyear Competition Members submit one entry into any three of these four subjects:
Landscape "an image where land form is apparent. A structure, person or persons may be included but must not dominate the picture" 

Portrait,an image of a person or persons, either a head and shoulders shot or a full length portrayal of the subject" 

3 Images in 1 Mount
"3 distinct yet related images mounted on the same board"

COMPETITIONS

These competitions comprise:-
“OPEN” COMPETITIONS:
The images submitted may be of any subject.
“SET SUBJECT” COMPETITIONS:
Some months have a subject set for images. A description of the set subject is set out in the syllabus. On such months there is also always an open competition running concurrently. Members spread their entries over both sections, that is either two “open” and one “set” or vice versa.
OAKLEIGH TROPHY COMPETITION:
Three competitions each year are designated as “trophy competitions”- members’ scores in each of the divisions, large print, small print and slides are totalled to determine the “Oakleigh trophy” winners for that year.
MIDYEAR COMPETITION:
The midyear competition is self contained and gives members the choice of four set topics from which to choose their three entries. Trophies are awarded on the night of competition for the member with the highest total in each division. 
PRINT AND SLIDE OF THE YEAR
Entries for this competition MUST have already been exhibited in an Oakleigh Camera Club competition during the current calendar year. Note that the large print section is divided into monochrome and colour for this competition and workers may submit up to 3 images into each of these, as well as 3 into one of the small print divisions.

ENTRIES
Please note that the same image may be used in an open competition, an internal member judged competition, one aggregate, a set subject (including the midyear) and the Print and Slide of the Year Competition.

When submitting entries to the Print and Slide Stewards for competition, please observe the following:-

All  entries should be clearly marked with:

· Your member number
· The section and/or category for which the entry is being submitted
· A title, for identification only. 
· Where there may be some doubt, prints should have “top” marked on the back to indicate the correct viewing position.
· Slides should be spotted on the bottom left hand corner when viewed

August 6th: Cameras Old & New - presentation of a range of cameras from the past (Brian) and where the new digital sensors are taking us in the future (Ken).

Inspired by Visual Art :"an image which suggests a recognisable artistic style"
