CARE
OF TOYS
All
toys are so much more appealing if they are clean and properly presented.
Please read this carefully and clean all borrowed items thoroughly before
returning them. You may be asked to re-borrow a toy if it is deemed to be
unsatisfactory.Thank you for your co-operation!
Recommended
cleaning items:
•
Ammonia-based spray cleaner (such as “Spray & Wipe”)
• Antibacterial wipes
• Spongecloth
• Old toothbrush
• Toothpicks
• Cotton wool
General:
Most toys can be washed with normal dishwashing liquid, using heavier-duty
cleaners for more stubborn marks. Get into corners with an old toothbrush and
toothpicks wrapped in cotton wool. Please dry well. Leaving items such as Duplo
and construction blocks to drain on a clean tea-towel overnight is ideal.
Wooden
Toys:
Should be washed as above, however please be careful not to soak them.
Rattles
and Baby Toys:
Must not be immersed in water as it can get inside, rendering the toy useless.
Wipe thoroughly with hot water, a spongecloth with a small amount of detergent
or an atibacterial wipe.
Ride-on
Vehicles and Outdoor Toys:
Still must be cleaned. Please take care not leave them exposed to the elements
as this reduces their lifespan.
Puzzles
and Games:
Wooden puzzles as per 'Wooden Toys' above. Cardboard should be wiped over with
a slightly damp spongecloth. We often find food caked in or on such items, so
please take care.
Packaging,
please help us by:

Using elastic bands to contain similar items (like railway tracks).
Completing puzzles and securing their pieces (using pantyhose, cling wrap or
netting provided).
Alert Team Leaders to plastic bags, which may be deteriorating.
