Dr Helen Skouteris is a
children’s developmental psychologist at Latrobe University.
Her research covers such
topics as TV viewing habits of young children to the development of
self-awareness in preschool children.
She is the weekly guest of
Annette Allison on 3AK discussing general development and parenting issues; has
been interviewed on 4 TV stations and by 30 newspapers nationwide.
As a previous Toy Library
member (elsewhere in Victoria), Helen spoke at Toy Libraries Victoria’s
conference in May 2005 about factors which make a good toy from a
child’s perspective, why they like to play with it and how we can help them learn.
Here are her notes from the seminar –
helpful when choosing a toy for your child, or understanding your child!
