SPECIAL
EVENTS
The “Association Teams Challenge” is a Round Robin competition between Tennis Associations within Metropolitan / Country Victoria.
Each team consists of 4 girls and 4 boys in the 12/U, 14/U and 16/U age groups. The teams are submitted to Tennis Victoria who proceed to grade the teams into Sections of 4 teams.
Each Competing team member will play:
· 1 Singles (Best of 3 tie break sets)
· 1 Doubles (Pro set – tie break at 8 all)
· 1 Mixed Doubles (Pro set – tie break at 8 all)
The teams will play on three occasions during the year at dates and locations agreed between the competing Associations. (Competition could be held on Friday Nights, Saturday afternoons, Sunday Afternoons or even Sunday Mornings except during Vic Junior Comp.
The Competition is open to all Country Regions and Metropolitan Associations who run a Tennis Victoria Association Squad.
Players are invited to participate in this competition with selection currently based on the following:
SELECTION OBJECTIVE
To field the best team and give as many players the opportunity to participate in this competition.
· Players would need to have played singles in the NSJTA Saturday morning competition (At least 3 times)
And
· Preference will be given to NSJTA Squad members (If not a squad member, individual cases may be looked at by the Committee)
· Players would need to be prepared to travel with competing associations such as Frankston, Geelong
Team members will be required to wear the official NSJTA tennis top and either navy blue / black tennis skirts / shorts
The competition is held over the Easter Holidays each year.
· North Suburban
· Waverley District
· Eastern Region
· Tennis South Australia
Players are invited to participate in this competition with selection currently based on the following:
SELECTION
OBJECTIVE
To field the best team and give as many players the opportunity to participate in this competition.
· Players would need to have played NSJTA Saturday morning competition (At least 3 times)
And
·
The older players are to be given the opportunity over the younger
players within an age group unless there is a particularly outstanding younger
player
Then
· Selection in accordance with the best-combined singles / doubles figures from the NSJTA Saturday morning competition having consideration for the position played.
Where a separation of players cannot be made, a decision is to be based on the following:
· National Points ranking
Each Tennis Association takes its turn to host this competition. When hosted by the NSJTA (every 5 years) , each team member will be required to billet a South Australian team member as part of the selection criteria.
Team members will be required to wear the official NSJTA tennis top and either navy blue / black tennis skirts / shorts
