DG's WEEKLY message
Rotary Friends
You will recall that last week I expressed my deep concern at the events in  East Timor  and now there is an urgent need for us to assist those who have been affected by these troubles. In this newsletter there are details of items that we can send in a Container as the DIK Store is open every day this week to fill it.
Your support will be really appreciated by our friends in East Timor.
On Monday evening I attended the RC Kyneton for one of my irregular visits to my club and the Guest Speaker Roger La Salle ex “ New Inventors” was fascinating as he told us about creative thinking and the taking out  of patents.
On Wednesday evening Fran and I were joined by AG John Gradie and Lyn to attend the 15th Birthday Celebrations of the RC Melton Valley and it was a wonderful night.
President Graham Dempsey and Pauline welcomed their guests and it was good to see the strong support from members of the RC Melton.
Lunch at the RC Kew on Thursday was very enjoyable and Fran was presented with 10,000 pencils for her P4ETS project by President Michael Conyers who was joined by his wife Wendy at the meeting. Also there was Jill Forsythe who you will recall spoke at the District Conference about Maternity Kits for East Timor. Jill was also able to advise us about what is required there now.
In the evening we attended a dinner meeting of the District New Generations Committee to celebrate the three years of leadership by Chris Don whose wife Lyn was there to join this great night of fellowship. Well done Chris! Your contribution to our youth programs is really appreciated by us all.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the Welcome Home dinner for our GSE team and to hear of their experiences in Busan, South Korea
Enjoy your week in Rotary.              DG John Wigley

What Paul Harris (and other Rotarians) said:
“(Rotary’s) existence is justified not by the incidental benefit to a few, but by the things which are of equal benefit to all. That is, becoming a true service club.

From the Desk of the District Secretary:
For all incoming Presidents Elect and Club Secretaries Elect this is the time for you to start planning you paperwork, websites and you club Bulletins, your Club Letterhead and electronic versions of the same.
A very good starting point for this is the RI Download centre; http://www.rotary.org/newsroom/downloadcenter/materials2006-07/index.html
This is the RI site for all next year’s theme and other paperwork that you will need to have during your term in office.
I strongly recommend that you visit this website.
