DG's WEEKLY message
Rotary Friends
I am saddened to report
that Geoff Peace the husband of our much admired Assistant Governor Anne
Peace unexpectedly
passed away last Friday 28th April. On your behalf I have extended to Anne
our great sorrow as Geoff was a great supporter of Rotary and a dear friend
to many of us.
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this past week I joined the District Governors
from most of the 23 Districts who met at the Hilton Hotel at Melbourne
Airport to conclude the AGM for RAWCS postponed at the Institute in Penrith
last November. The Governors expressed their ongoing support for the
wonderful work carried out by RAWCS
volunteers.
On Thursday Fran and I were at a special meeting at the RC Footscray when
not only was a new member Elsa Woldu inducted but I had the great pleasure
to induct Margaret Atley, wife of PDG Lawrence Atley as an Honorary Member
of the club. The support of most of our PDGs and their wives and partners
was wonderful to see and In addition the winner of the Lawrence and Margaret
Atley Music Scholarship was awarded to Leigh Goedecki who
entertained us with two pieces on the keyboard.
On Saturday the Governors Ball at Kyneton was held to recognise that the
Zonta International Governor Ronda Walker
and I both are residents of the town. It was a night of good fun and
fellowship and I want to thank those Rotarians
who attended from country and Melbourne clubs.
I want to remind all you great 2005/2006 Presidents that the entries for the
District Awards have been extended to 7th May. There are some great projects
that your clubs have done and I encourage you to read the email from
District Awards Chair Lyndon Joss and submit your entry. The Awards night is
on Thursday 8th June and imagine how happy you would be to be to receive an
Award for your club.
Enjoy your week in

For all Rotarians
in District D9800 who take the time to read what we put into the e-Zine,
there is so much more to see and read, if you follow the links.
Some Club bulletins reproduce the e-Zine in hard copy and the additional
information is then lost as the links are not shown.
However if these members want more information they should log onto the
District website and have all the e-Zine's links available.
District web site is www.rotaryd9800.org

What
is ROMAC all about? It's all about transforming a little boy
from this to this.
For ROMAC's latest patient, a malformation resulted from issues related
to the brain and a ten hour operation involved neurological, optical and facial
changes. After recovery arrangements were made for Adison to ring
home and speak to "mum" for the first time in twelve months.
This was achieved by arranging for his mother to walk the five hours to
the nearest phone and be there when the call was made from Australia.
Please
note that as from Thursday 4th May, The Rotary Club of Brunswick will
be meeting at Curly Joes 307 Sydney Road, Brunswick 3056. The
phone number for Curly
Joes is 03 9380 5533. Meeting time has not changed (12.45pm for
