Bernie's Weekly Message
The
Changeover season is nearly finished with a few Clubs still to
formalize the necessary moves. I congratulate everyone who has taken
up the responsibility this year of ensuring the continuity of the
impact of Rotary on both the membership and the world in general. It
is a busy time of the year but a time that brings members and their
families together in that bond of fellowship that is the essence of
Rotary.
Fellowship is the glue that has held Rotary together over the past
100 years and it was the centrepiece of the luncheons enjoyed by
Paul Harris and his colleagues.
Today, we still see the vibrant Clubs that foster fellowship and fun
among its members usually achieve constantly in their quest to
improve community life. It is also noticeable that these Clubs are
also able to retain members and, because of the excitement of
belonging and that infectious attraction, can usually induct new
members to swell their ranks. Members look forward to exciting
atmospheres and usually drift away from boring meetings.
One of the principal objectives in our District this year is to
foster fellowship and fun in all our Clubs and activities. We will
still concentrate on things that matter, i.e. projects, good works,
charitable support and the many programmes of Rotary and, I believe,
all these will blossom because of our positive attitude.
Enjoy Rotary and Lead the Way!
Bernie Walshe
Governor

History Buffs:
Marc Fookes (RC Glen Eira) is planning to write a history of District

long period of time and needs a small but enthusiastic team of Rotarians
with experience in this type of work to help.
If you have knowledge in the field of research and feel this is valuable
to our district and you are prepared to help write this important
manuscript please contact: MARC FOOKES (Chairman New Generations

A note
from last edition:
The members of RC Gisborne were surprised to learn that Charles Galea

RC Point Gellibrand where he was actually inducted. Sorry Charles but
surely RC Gisborne will now have to be an early make up for you.
