DG's WEEKLY message
Fellow Rotarians,
What an exciting week it has been for Fran and I as we attended the Commonwealth Games Breakfast meeting of RC Central Melbourne Sunrise on Tuesday. The GSE Team from South Korea were there too and they enjoyed being able to meet the two great Australian swimmers in Nicole Livingston and Sarah Ryan who were guest speakers with Tim Lane and  top Hockeyroo Louise Dobson .It really put us in the mood for the Games!
On Tuesday evening the Welcome Dinner for the GSE Team from South Korea was hosted by RC Hawthorn and it was a great Rotary Foundation occasion. We were honoured with the attendance of the Korean Ambassador and Madam Cho and RIDE Ian Riseley and Juliet. It was also wonderful to see our GSE Team in their smart uniform and to hear Leader Iven MacKay and the team.
Led by Rotarian Soo-ja Park the Korean team dressed in their colourful traditional costume and they looked wonderful and they also entertained us with a Korean dance.
On Wednesday afternoon I was honoured to meet HRH the Duke of Edinburgh at a reception held at The Royal Society
.
This morning Fran and I were given a guided tour of the Athletes Village in Parkville  by Bill Dagg and it was great to meet so many of the Rotary volunteers involved in the cleaning and also to hear of the praise from senior Village officials for our work.
There is a great team spirit among the volunteers from four Districts and isn’t that good!
The District Conference is now only two weeks away and a more detailed program will be posted on the District website tomorrow. Registrations are still arriving so if you haven’t registered yet it’s not too late!
URGENT! URGENT! Before closing this week I wish to remind all Club Presidents that the 2005-06 Presidential Citation forms need to be submitted to me no later than Friday 7th April and I encourage you all to apply for this recognition for your Club
.
Enjoy your week in Rotary                        DG John Wigley
