DG's WEEKLY message
Fellow Rotarians,
I want to start this week's message with our attendance at a fundraising dinner last night for ROMAC.  This event in Ascot Vale raised in excess of $25,000 by the predominantly Vietnamese community who attended.  ROMAC has treated 30 Vietnamese since its inception and this dinner was their way of saying, "Thank you".  Many Rotarians and partners were there including ROMAC National Chairman Ed Chenery, District Chair Jenny Penno and our District ROMAC committee.
The week commenced with a member behind the badge by Shirley Porter at Kyneton and then breakfast at RC South Yarra.
On Wednesday I attended lunch at the RC of Melbourne to hear the Angus Mitchell Oration, this year presented by PP John Kendall who was the chairman of the RI Convention in Melbourne.  His speech on the early history of the RC of Melbourne was very well researched and it was good learn of some of the leading figures in Rotary early history.
Thursday saw us at a joint meeting of RCs of Footscray and West Footscray to hear Tim Lane recount some sporting insights.
On Friday evening, I attended the 21st birthday of RC of Wyndham and President Diane Thomson and the club arranged for many past presidents to attended and I was delighted to pin a PHF Sapphire on Charter President Peter Nichols.
I wish to remind all club presidents to apply for a presidential citation and to return the application form to me during the next few weeks.
Also, don't forget the GSE welcome dinner on 14 March when we welcome the team from Busan and hear RI Director Elect Ian Riseley from our adjoining District.
Enjoy your week in Rotary                        DG John Wigley

  5. P4ETS
Where have ALL the pencils gone?
Is it hibernation time for HB Pencils, or are they breeding?
Have you checked your collection bags lately, maybe co-habiting in a dark place (in a green bag) is conducive to multiplication.  If when you check you find there are many more than you thought, send some off to DIK so they can catch an earlier container to East Timor.
They can’t all have a holiday in Geelong before heading overseas!!!
Don’t forget to take some “happy snaps” before you send them off, and bring those to the Conference to pin on the Brag Board.
We will have a BIG PENCIL CASE at Geelong for all your pencils, erasers, sharpeners and paper, so let’s fill it to the brim.
    Thanks in anticipation. Fran Wigley
