DG's WEEKLY message
Fellow Rotarians,
It’s good to read the Club Bulletins and see that clubs are getting back to their normal meetings and planning the second half of this Rotary year.
Last week I wrote to all Club Presidents calling for nominations of Past Presidents to serve on the Nominating Committee for the District Governor 2008/09 and I encourage you to address this matter promptly as these names must be sent to me by 28th February. This week each club will receive an invitation to nominate a member for the position of District Governor 2008/2009 and again I ask that give this matter your close attention.
Some weeks ago I reminded you that there are funds available for District Simplified Grants and I again encourage you to consider an application for funds to add to your funds for a humanitarian project either locally or overseas. PDG Jeff Bird is available to help you with an application.
Some of the time this past week has been spent with the Conference Committee and we are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that you have a great time in Geelong.
The theme for the Conference Dinner is “Celebrate the Rhythm of Life with Colour” as we give you plenty of scope to dress to fit in with this theme. I met with the Resolutions Committee to plan the Resolutions Session which will be held on Saturday afternoon at the conference. Details will be sent to all clubs this week.
Today Fran and I joined the PDGs and partners as we bid DGE Bernie Walshe and Margaret bon voyage for their travel to the International Assembly in San Diego next weekend. It will be a wonderful experience for them as they meet all 528 DGEs from around the Rotary world.
Enjoy your week in Rotary                        DG John Wigley

From the desk of the District Secretary.
I have been reading a number of club bulletins and have noticed that the links that are in the e-zine are lost when copied into the Club Newsletter/bulletin.
Can I remind bulletin editors make sure that the e-zine address is included in their news items so that Club members can go to the e-Zine www.rotaryd9800.org/news9800/ and follow all the links in the relevant e-zine.
This e-Zine is not just for the Presidents Secretaries and bulletin editors but is an information distribution vehicle for all D9800 members and is to be distributed as widely as possible.
One day your Club will need some information distributed and this will still be the best medium.                      David Pisterman

PHF Recognitions
Keep sending them in.  DG John's monthly updates have been circulated to the clubs and the new members and PHF recognitions have been noted.  If you haven't received a copy through your club Click July, August, September, October and November.
