DG's
WEEKLY message
Rotary Friends
December is Family of
Rotary Month and the Presidents will know of the emphasis that Fran and I
placed on this at the PETS and Assembly. I have noticed that some clubs
have a family of Rotary column in their Bulletin and I invite you all to
let me know what your club is doing to recognise the Family of Rotary so
that I can mention these items in the coming weeks.
We have enjoyed this past week in Rotary for the variety of events
attended. Firstly on Monday evening the Presidents Cocktail Party for RC
Toorak where Pres Alan Freedman and I recognised the great charity work by
Lillian Frank AM MBE with a PHF. What a great evening of Rotary
fellowship! Early on Tuesday morning the District Executive met briefly to
ratify the Variety Club’s Christmas Party for children as a District
9800 event. Also to confirm the appointment of Bill Dagg as the
Co-ordinator for the cleaning project at the Commonwealth Games Athletes
village.
On Tuesday evening the RC Glenferrie celebrated their 30th birthday with a
dinner at the MCG attended by Past RI President Royce Abbey and Jean and
other guests and they launched a book “30 Years On” as a record of the
history of the Club. Well done to Llewellyn Jones, David Sutherland, John
Wischer and Geoffrey Wood, who put this book together for their club.
Thursday evening I was at International house to attend the Matching
Grants seminar conducted by PDG Jeffrey Bird. This seminar was attended by
27 Rotarians with some clubs indicating their keen interest in this
subject by sending a number of members. They would not have been
disappointed as this was a good opportunity to lean about the process to
take up a matching grant. I have requested Loryn Clark to put this
information on the District website.
On Sunday we joined the PDGs, DGE Bernie Walshe and Margaret, and DGN John
Davis and Joan at the traditional Past Governors Christmas Luncheon.
Enjoy your week in Rotary
DG John Wigley

Last chance to
acquire a lasting memory of Rotary's Centennial
A chance not to be missed: This is your last change to obtain a
Rotary Centennial Coin as all coins not sold at the end of 2005 will be
melted down and “that’s all Folks” for the project; which was

Wanted
Employment contacts: two Dutch Communication students are looking
for a traineeship in Australia for three to five months to gain
practical work experience. They can be employed as a duo, which cuts
time and doubles the work. The students are experienced in marketing,
corporate and health communication research. Because of their extra
curricular activities they have been trained in leadership, co-operation
and organizational skills. If a business affiliated to your Rotary Club
can use two extra temporary employees to do research, organize an event,
design a website or implement new human resource management, or if you
want to review their Curriculum Vitae, please respond to r.heemskerk@student.utwente.nl
