DG's WEEKLY message
Rotary Friends
Another great week of club visits and we were warmly welcomed at Fitzroy, Richmond, Altona and Yarraville where a new member Mark Atkinson, was welcomed into our newest club.
Th
en we went on to Bacchus Marsh and Rochester for some country hospitality and to hear of more exciting programs that clubs are doing to serve their community. We also attended the RC Melbourne where they presented their Vocational Award to Professor Alan Trounson, Director of Stem Cell Research at Monash University. We were enthralled to hear of the exciting research at Monash.
On Friday evening the RC Bendigo Sandhurst hosted the Bendigo Business Excellence Awards which recognise the best businesses in nine categories. This event is a gala evening attended this year by nearly 600.
Bendigo Senior Secondary College were awarded the overall best business and this school are great supporters of many of our Rotary youth programs. This year they had three students of the 16 who were successful to attend the NYSF in Canberra in January.
Saturday evening saw us at the RYPEN camp at Lancefield where the RC Keilor were looking after the food needs of the students attending the camp. Jo Bird and her fellow Rotoractors really do a wonderful job training the students who were a very happy group during our time with them at dinner. DGE Bernie Walshe visited them on Sunday to present their certificates.

Enjoy your week in Rotary.                DG John Wigley
