DG's
WEEKLY message
Rotary Friends and Families
October is
Vocational month and I like the way our RI president refers to Vocational
Service when he says "People join Rotary as proud representatives of
their business or profession. Hence, all club members have an obligation to
represent their vocations to fellow Rotarians and exemplify the spirit of
Rotary in the workplace.
These twin responsibilities form the foundation of Vocational Service In my
address to clubs I ask that we all renew our commitment to Vocational
Service as Rotary's principles promote ethical practices, and the business
community needs Rotarians - not just as positive role models but as
advocates for what is the truth and what is fair to all concerned.
As we travelled across the district this past week we visited Melton,
West Footscray, Hoppers Crossing and Brunswick and what a delight it was to
be present at the induction of four new members at Brunswick and all under
40! Welcome to Mel and Dean Kennedy, Amit Bhardwhaj and Michael
Landry.
There were also meetings of the District Executive and the District
Leadership Team and I am pleased that there were positive reports in so many
areas of our Service above Self.
On Saturday evening we attended a Charity Dinner of the Australia India
Business Council and the funds raised are going to a SAVI project in
Southern India and thank you to Vijay Sarsala from Chadstone East Malvern
for making this possible.
The conference registration forms and flyers will be posted to all clubs
this week and this information will also be posted on the Conference website
www.rotary9800conference.com
I hope that your plans for our Geelong Conference including the tennis and
golf are taking shape.
On Tuesday we are looking forward to attending the new DIK store opening and
I hope that many of you can join us there at 2-30 pm.
Enjoy your week in Rotary
DG John Wigley
