DG's WEEKLY message Rotary Friends, This week has been one of variety as our visits took us from
Canterbury and Nth Balwyn in the east to Wyndham in the west, Essendon and
Flemington in the north and Brighton Beach in the south. I must
have been reading a travel brochure when I planned this week! Among
these club visits we had the honour of opening the new DIK store in
Somerville Road West Footscray where Doug and Chris Golden, Beryl Wright,
Pres. Laurie Fisher and Fran and I all cut the ribbon to declare open
this store which will be a great asset to DIK. Our gratitude
goes to the Golden Bros. whose generosity makes this possible. On
Friday evening we attended the Charity Auction Dinner run by Central
Melbourne Sunrise and what an enjoyable evening it was. Congratulations to
CMS for a fun filled and profitable event. Accompanied by DGE Bernie
Walshe and Margaret we attended the familiarisation evening for the
successful students going to the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra
in January. What a talented and happy group they are and
District 9800 can be proud of these sixteen students representing us this
year. Elsewhere in this e-Zine there is a letter I received from RI
President Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar and Foundation Trustees Chairman Frank
Devlin which deals with the disastrous earthquakes in Pakistan. As you
will read we are encouraged to think long term to aid the people of
Pakistan whose lives have been so devastated. Let’s think of how we
can help as we meet in Rotary fellowship this week. Enjoy your week in
