The activities for the 1998 project followed the methodology for the Standards Identification and Maintenance Process agreed by the ANTA CEO's in 1997.
As the core of this process, a series of workshops were held to identify preferred technical standards covering each of the selected technology areas. The workshops were preceded by an online discussion group to explore the key issues relevant to each technology. Participants in the discussion group and the workshops comprised representatives from each State/Territory who were nominated to provide the necessary level of technical expertise and business awareness of the objectives of the VET sector.
Briefing papers were prepared by the project team before the workshop and have been subsequently revised in the light of the viewpoints expressed by the participants at the workshops. These papers embody recommendations for the Preferred Standards, Functional Specifications and Operating Guidelines, which have been endorsed by the ANTA CEO's.
