John Shaw Neilson Cottage

In 1961 members of the Nhill and District Historical Society visited Penola and were offered the two original rooms of the home in which Nhill's poet John Shaw Neilson Was born in. The offer was accepted and with weekend working bees, the lovely cottage was dismantled and transported to Nhill. The cottage was put in to a safe place until 1971 when it was reconstructed on a site adjoining Japex Park |

Nhill is justifiably proud of it's two bronze statues. Acting on a suggestion made by Mr Ray Peak a local farmer, the Nhill Historical Society organised a special committee of descendents of pioneers to have the pioneering work of the Draught Horse recognised, and this statue was the result |
