With a high majority of our call outs being to patients
in cardiac distress our training focuses greatly on the
'Chain of Survival concept',
Below is a overview of the chain:

It
is estimated that more than 95% of sudden cardiac
arrest victims die before reaching a hospital.
However,
when all four links of the Chain of Survival are
strong, survival rates for victims of Sudden Cardiac
Arrest (SCA) can rise to as high as 40%.
By
understanding more about sudden cardiac arrest and
the importance of the Chain of Survival concept,
many lives may be saved.
1st Link - Early Access
Call first - Call fast. Get to the cardiac arrest
casualty quickly and call 000 (112 for mobiles)
for an ambulance
2nd Link - Early CPR
Early
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) performed by a
first aider on a casualty who is in cardiac arrest
can buy life-saving time.
3rd Link - Early Defibrillation
Early
defibrillation is the third and perhaps most
significant link.
4th Link - Early Advanced
Care
Advanced
Cardiac Life Support is provided by ambulance
paramedics and other highly trained medical
personnel.

Nagambie CERT meet on a monthly
basis. Our headquarters are
located in the Maternal Child Health Centre in Prentice
St. Prospective members are welcome to
attend and should contact CERT direct for further
information
