The History of Nagambie CERT

The Nagambie Lions Club responded to a call for submissions to build up a trained team of volunteers who would deliver emergency first aid & life support to patients awaiting the arrival of an ambulance.

A Management committee was established and the training of a group of (approximately) 20 people began by Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV.).

A total of 19 people completed their training and CERT commenced operations on 19 July 2004.  In June 2005, 6 new recruits joined the first fully qualified group giving CERT a total of 21 qualified responders.

The CERT area of operation covers approximately 550 sq kilometres and is designed so that all areas within the zone can be accessed by CERT within a 20 minute time frame however,  CERT can be sent anywhere under the discretion of the RAV communications centre
