Melbourne Writers’ Theatre

Services

Meetings starts at 7.00pm and generally run for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on items to be discussed.

Guest speaker: conditional to the predicted length of the meeting, a person with relevant knowledge and experience may be invited to the meeting to share some of their expertise. Guest speakers in the past have included theatre critics, dramaturges and directors.

Short break: tea and coffee are available in the foyer

Rehearsed play reading: at approximately 8.00pm the rehearsed play reading begins. Please note… to cover reading costs there is a minimal door charge for the play reading:

  • $5 members and concession
  • $10 non-members

Feedback: at the completion of the reading the audience, director and actors are invited to give feedback to the playwright.

The MWT has three play season slots a year at the Courthouse Theatre

Once a play has gone through the submission process and had a rehearsed reading, they then apply to the committee for one of the seasons. The committee then approves or declines the application.
