Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ page). Below, we have tried to answer the most common questions visitors to our web site may have.

What happens to scripts?

  • Any member may submit a script for assessment at a general meeting
  • Four copies (4) must be submitted (3 hard copies for panel and 1 on disk for MWT archives)
  • At the same meeting a panel of three writers will be selected to review the script
  • One of three writers is nominated as co-ordinator
  • The panel members each takes a copy of the script and reviews it in their own time
  • Co-ordinator organises a time for the writer and panel to meet
  • The panel gives the writer constructive feedback on the script
  • The panel also gives as assessment of whether the script needs major re-work or is ready for a reading
  • At a subsequent general meeting the panel’s assessment of the script (re-work or reading) is tabled and copies made available to interested members
  • For full length plays, a charge of $20 applies for assessments

When and how are plays produced?

The MWT has three play season slots a year at the Courthouse Theatre

In 2004 our remaining seasons are

  • 22 August to 11 September - Terrorists in the Garden
  • 28 November to 18 December

A slot in June/July is used to stage our short play season. Members with plays that have had a rehearsed reading may apply to use the later slots.

Once a play has gone through the submission process and had a rehearsed reading, they then apply to the committee for one of the seasons. The committee then approves or declines the application.

What happens at meetings?

Meetings starts at 7.00pm and generally run for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on items to be discussed.
