    Match Report: On Saturday the Whites ventured out to the old Fitzroy home ground to renew acquaintances with the Reds. After some attempted misdirection to the ground by Dan “Speeches” O’Dwyer, most of the team were able to arrive on time.

    Monash, for once, managed to be awake for the first quarter and a 15 minute spree of hard running, supportive football saw Jim “Big Gay” Sheldon and Bryce “Bort” Collier both getting in the picture with early goals giving the Whites a 4 goal lead at quarter time. Unfortunately either Fitzroy woke up or the Whites went to sleep because Monash were unable to shake free for the rest of the game and, if not for the dogged players of the backline - led by Matthew “Weazel” Riddle and Charlie “What am I doing in the forward line?” Smibert - and the consistent effort of the on-ballers, Monash may have been in more trouble than was warranted for this game.

    Plagued by its own shortcomings and tenacious opposition, the Whites were able to hold onto a victory that didn’t quite feel like a victory and look forward to making amends with what will be a required four quarter effort against the boys from the Shire, Old Brighton.
