The Music Lovers' Society
The Music Lovers' Society was founded in 1952 by a group led by Mr Joseph James, Mr Theodore Sartory, Mr Hayward Owen and the first Honorary Secretary, Mr Harold Newey, to help young (typically undergraduate student) musicians in many aspects of musical knowledge and appreciation, and especially in the development of performance skills.
The aims of the Society are therefore
We appeal to fellow music lovers to support us so that we can continue to assist talented advanced students to further their careers.
Membership currently covers eight recitals, including Ida Doubleday Bequest Recitals, and one recital presented with the Annual General Meeting. Special recitals are also held; members are admitted to these at the concessional rate. For disabled patrons requiring a carer, one ticket admits the patron and carer.
