Aaron Barnden (violin)
Aaron made his orchestral debut with the Zelman Memorial Orchestra at the age of twelve. He has won a number of
prizes and scholarships, including a Gold Medal for the most outstanding string player at the Dandenong Festival
of Music and Art, an Australian Jewish News Scholarship, the Westpac Bank Prize for the most promising student
at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, a Paul Mc Dermott Violin Scholarship, and a Special Prize for the most
outstanding violinist at Manningham Eisteddfod. He was also a finalist in the National youth Concerto Competition,
and the A. B. C. 'Quest'.
He has performed concertos and other solos with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia of Melbourne, Queensland
Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Geminiani Orchestra, and was featured on A. B. C. 'Young Australia' program.
He has been a member of a number of orchestras, including the New Philharmonia of Cologne, The cologne Chamber
Ensemble, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Academy of Melbourne, and the Australian Youth Orchestra.
In 1999, he was one of five violinists selected from Australia and New Zealand for the Australian National Academy
of Music's Advanced Performance course. In 2000 he has been playing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra while
undertaking his Master of Music Performance degree at Melbourne University.
