Exciting baroque trio performers Julie Fredersdorff baroque violin, Laura Vaughan viola da gamba and Donald Nicolson harpsichord bring a new vitality to  baroque performances. A vivid sense of imagination, creativity, awareness of historical context and great musicianship result in the exhilarating sound of Latitude 37.

Crete - The Labyrinth of Intimacy
Hartley Newnham
Hartley Newnham counter-tenor/baritone,  Vivien Hamilton soprano, Hana Crisp mezzo soprano, Paul Bentley tenor, Tom Healy baritone and Glenn Riddle piano present Hartley's song cycle based on the collection of poems, Crete by award winning poet Dorothy Porter. The programme also features works by Monteverdi as well as three fourteenth century Italian masters (Francesco Landini, Jacopo da Bologna and Don Paolo da Firenze) and by our own William James Schmidt.

Russian Romance
Zoe Knighton and Will Schmidt
Well known cellist, soloist and chamber musician Zoe Knighton performs with Will Schmidt, a highly talented young pianist and composer. As well as music by Shostakovich and Rachmaninoff, a new composition by Will provides an extra delight to the evening.

Resplendent Piano
Antony Gray
CMS welcomes London-based Australian pianist Antony Gray. The concert will include works from Antony's acclaimed recent recording of the late piano works of Brahms as well as hitherto unknown transcriptions by Saint-Saens that Antony has unearthed in the Bibliotheque Nationale de France. A special treat not to be missed.

Marking the Milestones
Julie Haskell
Accomplished fortepianist Julie Haskell brings her copy of an original Stein fortepiano to CMS to present piano masterworks of  Franz Joseph Haydn (1732 -1809) and Felix Mendelssohn (1809 - 1847) as well as works by Chopin and Beethoven.

Karen Van Spall and Katherine Day
The  romantic voice of mezzo soprano Karen Van Spall and gifted concert pianist and accompanist Katherine Day perform works by Berlioz, Mahler and Ravel. These international performers will transport you  into an exquisite evening of musical intimacy for our final concert for 2009.
